Police Chief
I am Glen Austin. I have been Chief of Police for the City of Keiser since 2018. I also serve as code enforcement officer for the city. During my 27-year law enforcement career I have worked as a deputy for Craighead and Poinsett County Sheriff Departments. I have held the rank of chief, assistant chief, captain, sergeant, and patrolman.
I hold Basic and General Certifications from the Arkansas Commission of Police Standards and Training. I have 582 hours of basic police training from the Police Academy of Black River Technical College in Pocahontas.
On the personal side, my wife Shallia and I are the parents of 5 sons and 4 daughters. We have 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Being a family man myself, I understand that desire to make sure your children and grandchildren have a safe, healthy place in which to live.
I have adopted the Policeman’s Anthem “to protect and to serve” as my personal motto. Among my goals for the City of Keiser is to attempt to do something about the drug issue that seems to be overtaking even the small towns. I also want to get the citizens involved in watching out for each other and their neighborhoods.
Being a police officer is not just a job to me. It is a commitment. Along with Officers Kelems and Boyd, we will do our best to keep Keiser a safe and clean place to live and raise children. However, we cannot do it alone. We need for you, the citizen, to help us. Working together we can accomplish anything.
